The latest on celebrity diamonds is the stunning 9-carat ring Kate Hudson showed off to Matt Lauer on the Today show. Matthew Bellamy, Kate’s rocker fiancée, popped the question recently, she revealed on the air. The multiple- diamond ring joins a long line of celebrity diamonds that have showed up on Hollywood leading ladies fingers to announce to the world their engagements.

The ring has a large emerald cut diamond at the center, with two tapered baguette diamonds on either side. It is set in platinum, to show off the natural’s own brilliance and colors. Other metal settings can interfere with the natural colors of the stone, but platinum is a natural white color which does not interfere by casting its own color onto the diamond, like yellow gold does. The ring is estimated to be worth about $200,000. Even though Kate Hudson’s style tends to be more down-to-earth, a girl is allowed to celebrate when the big question gets asked. She opted for a very classic, high-style and drama engagement ring, instead of the Bohemian look she mostly favors. It’s a ring she can be proud to wear anywhere with anything.
